Greetings and a warm welcome to our August newsletter!
Our first month of FY 2023/24 has been a whirlwind of activity passing by in the blink of an eye. There is so much in store for the year ahead, with updates and committee announcements in our "Under the Hood" section below.
Our primary aim this year is to expand and enhance our chapter, creating a thriving and inclusive community for both new and existing members.
Leadership is often discussed, and when required, it
can be elusive. It is very demanding as circumstances sometimes dictate that we only serve the greater good. In such situations, good leadership requires the right answer at the right time and delivered the right way. Bad leadership looks like every other choice.
On my journey, many issues would have been avoided if someone, anyone, had demonstrated good leadership. To this end, I am delighted to reveal our latest initiative: Leadership Training delivered by our newest SAP, The Coaching Room. This training will give all member-leaders in the chapter a unique opportunity to participate in quarterly workshops, and board members will be offered a full-day workshop at our half-yearly retreat in February. Applications for next year's board will be accepted shortly.
Melbourne is a unique and wonderful city, one of the most diverse. This diversity makes for an incredible community. At EO Melbourne, we welcome qualified applicants from every aspect
of our community. However, EO can be seen from the outside as not being representative of the community to which we belong. This year, we will attempt to remedy this perception by rolling out a diversity and inclusion program.
This strategy is a slow burn and will ensure that in 5 to 10 years, we have not missed out on some of Melbourne's best entrepreneurial talent from diverse backgrounds. An EOI to join the D&I committee has already gone out, and if you would like to lean in and lend a hand, please let Kirsten know.
Here's to your every success!
Warm regards,
